Accessible Hotel

San Antonio nonprofit expands offerings

Morgan’s, the nonprofit organization behind Morgan’s Wonderland and Morgan’s Inspiration Island theme parks in San Antonio, is adding another venue to its offerings.

Morgan’s Hotel, to be built near Morgan’s Wonderland theme park and projected to open in 2026, will go beyond regular Americans with Disabilities Act requirements to provide a thoughtful stay for visitors of all ages and abilities.

Guests will find a sleek but functional design, including spacious common areas and guest rooms that allow for independent movement, eliminating barriers that often exist in traditional hotels. Specialized services will include staff trained in disability etiquette, assistance with mobility devices and accommodations such as hearing aid loops and sensory-sensitive colors and lighting.

In addition to meeting the needs of individuals with special needs, Morgan’s Hotel will cater to the aging population. The hotel’s design features wider hallways, larger guest rooms and easy access to elevators. The San Antonio location will serve as a model for future hotels.

Morgan’s founder Gordon Hartman shares that his personal journey began in 2006 during a vacation with his daughter, Morgan, who has special needs. Witnessing her exclusion
from play ignited a desire to ensure that everyone is included.

“Morgan’s Hotel will do for the hospitality industry what our other venues have done — create spaces where everyone feels welcome and included,” Hartman says.

The latest Morgan’s Hotel developments will be available at morgans.org.
