USA strong in track & field at 2016 Invictus Games

United States Army Capt. Kelly Elmlinger brought the heat on a hot, but cloudy and humid, day in the heart of the Sunshine State at the 2016 Invictus Games taking place in Orlando, Fla. Winning gold medals in all of the women’s IT4/ITS (non-ambulatory) wheelchair races, Elmlinger was all smiles as she crossed the finish line each time.

Several Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) members took part in this series of events, including Roosevelt "RJ" Anderson and Jesse Graham. Anderson, a PVA Vaughan Chapter member, managed to snag a silver in the men’s IT4 100-meter dash and a bronze medal in the men’s IT4 200 dash. Anderson will be competing in the wheelchair tennis event later this week. Graham, a PVA Mid-Atlantic chapter member, won a silver and three bronze medals in the track and field events, including shot put, discus, and the 100- and 400-meter IT5 dashes. Graham will also compete in wheelchair rugby.

Here are the track results for IT4/IT5 (non-ambulatory):
