Resources to Increase Physical Activity

NCPAD offers dynamic interactive tools for health promotion and fitness.

The National Center on Physical Activity and Disability (NCPAD) believes everyone can benefit from participating in regular physical activity. NCPAD is available to help people with disabilities in becoming active or maintaining an active lifestyle.

NCPAD is a resource you can use to obtain information on how to:

– Develop your exercise plan

– Adapt exercises that are based on your abilities

– Locate an accessible fitness facility in your community

– Locate experienced personal trainers

– Locate adaptive equipment

NCPAD offers dynamic interactive tools for health promotion and fitness. One of these is a virtual tour of an accessible fitness center that provides an increased understanding of accessible fitness.

NCPAD also offers low-cost, high-quality seated exercise videos and free video clips that include practical exercise demonstrations. A personalized exercise tracking system, “My NCPAD,” is another tool that can help you develop and record your exercise plan. And, a monthly newsletter packed with interesting information on fitness and disability can provide useful ideas to assist you in reaching your fitness goals.

NCPAD’s resources are available at www.ncpad.org, by calling 800-900-8086 (toll-free), or by e-mailing ncpad@uic.edu. Professionals are ready to answer your questions on physical activity, recreation, health promotion, accessibility, wellness, and disability.
