Phoenix puts an end to chronic veteran homelessness

Last month PN Online reported about one city’s plans to bring chronic veteran homelessness to an end.

Phoenix, Ariz., Mayor Greg Stanton and the City of Phoenix have apparently done what so many in Washington, D.C., have only discussed and bickered about doing for more than a decade. Ending veteran homelessness.

As we reported in The Homeless Veteran: A Thing of the Past? this November, Phoenix was on the brink of placing their final chronic homeless veterans into permanent housing, and achieving their 2014 goal of ending chronic veteran homelessness.

For the homeless veterans of Phoenix, Christmas has come early when Stanton and the City of Phoenix announced they have accomplished their goal … ahead of schedule.

Mayor Stanton was a recent guest of The Rachel Maddow Show and explains in this taped interview that aired on MSNBC December 23, 2013.
